On August 18, RA Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan visited Artashat Cannery to monitor the tomato procurement process on site. He was accompanied by Ararat Governor Sedrak Tevonyan and Head of the Artashat Community Karlen Mkrtchyan.

Accompanied by the factory’s General Director, Vachagan Karapetyan, Minister Papoyan toured the facility, familiarized himself with the production process, and observed the ongoing tomato procurement.

Company representatives assured the Minister that they are ready to procure as many tomatoes as local farmers can supply. The procurement price has been set at AMD 40–80 per kilogram.

“We will not face any issues with tomato procurement this year. We will continue to monitor the process on a daily basis,” Minister Gevorg Papoyan stated.

Tomato procurement began across the country on August 3. To date, 4,700 tons of tomatoes have been procured, of which the largest volume—1,800 tons—has been purchased by Artashat Cannery OJSC.

Artashat Cannery OJSC is one of Armenia’s leading and largest food industry companies. The company continues to grow and expand, with an annual production capacity of up to 40 million units of canned products, while steadily increasing its production volumes.
